Firewire 5'11" Hydroshort FCS II

5'11 x 19.813" x 2.625"  33L

The much anticipated Firewire Hydroshort in the fantastic Helium construction must be surfed to be believed! From Daniel "Tomo" Thompson this is the ultimate combination of the MPH (Modern Planning Hull) and the shortboard to give you the best of both worlds.

The Hydroshort is one clean looking board. The aesthetics are taken from the Hydronaut and repurposes this into a shorter board with optimum performance targeted for everyday surf conditions. The unique torpedo nose is combined with a medium rocker throughout and an underside featuring the Quad inside single concave that TOMO’s boards are famous for. The soft squash tail finishes the board perfectly.

The features are fairly unique, and the Hydroshort looks amazing, but how does this translate to the board feel and who should surf one? Firstly anyone who is a fan of any TOMO boards from the Vader, EVO, OMNI, Cymatic or Hydronaut will know already how good his designs are for everyday surfers, not just pros. This surfboard has a massive sweet spot amazing paddling and wave catching and built in afterburner speed as soon as you get to your feet. As a surfer this feeling is hard to beat, you can concentrate on how to use this speed, rather than generating speed, roundhouses, cutbacks, vertical surfing, floating over flat spots, and even airs - are all easier with speed. Who can surf the Hydroshort - well from our first run out any intermediate to advanced surfer. You really don’t have to be a pro to get the most from this board, actually we feel it would benefit the intermediate to advanced surfer the most. Trust us if we can unlock the magic in this board, then anyone can!

Firewire’s Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, more durable than regular PU boards and thus far is proving a little more robust than Firewire's LFT construction. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response. Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay.
