A refined, high-performance groveler shaped by Dan Mann for Kevin Schulz based on the Spitfire.
Introducing the Spun Honey, a refined, high-performance groveler shaped by Dan Mann for freesurfer
and firefighter, Kevin Schulz. Designed for the fast, shifting walls of beach breaks, it blends the proven
DNA of Firewire’s iconic Spitfire with modern updates tuned for today’s most explosive surfers.
At its core, the Spun Honey features a diamond tail for snappy pivots, added bite, and smooth release,
creating a responsive feel that thrives in punchy peaks and quick transitions. The wide point is a touch
towards the tail from center but further forward to the nose than the Sweet Potato outline, which
improves paddle power and wave entry, while the tapered tail keeps things sharp and agile when it’s
time to lay it on rail.
Underneath, the bottom contour is a pretty aggressive double concave set within a solid single concave,
similar to the Sweet Potato, with the double running further forward to the nose than most boards.
This double concave bottom contour delivers speed, lift, and fluid rail-to-fail performance, benefits
Dan learned from his S Boss and Boss Up shapes with a similar bottom. The five fin setup adds further
versatility, allowing you to ride it as a Thruster for tight arcs, or as a Quad for down-the-line speed.
Whether you’re threading shorebreak barrels or launching into air sections, the Spun Honey delivers
a fast, forgiving ride with a spicy edge — an ideal everyday board for surfers pushing performance in
weak, everyday conditions.

MORE ON THE SHAPE
The Spun Honey has Dan’s proven Spitfire-inspired bottom contours, a pretty aggressive double
concave set within a solid single concave, with the double running further forward to the nose than
most boards, providing amazing rail-to-rail performance. It’s got slightly more rocker curve on the rail
rocker compared to the Sweet Potato but less than the Spitfire, and the concave is aggreesive enough
so the stringer rocker is straighter than most boards like it but more than a pure groveler like the
Sweet Potato. The nose and tail rocker profiles are in between the Spitfire and Sweet Potato, and the
rail shape is a flat deck with a significant step closer to the rail like all of Dan’s Potato shapes. The foil
is full thoughout the body of th eshape with the tail rail dropping into a blady shape as well as a nicely
foiled performance nose.
